The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, or MASS MoCA, in North Adams, MA. The museum and performance space is set among the 250,000 sq.ft. factory buildings that once housed Arnold Print Works (1860-1942) and the Sprague Electric Company (194-1985). Earlier uses of the site included shoe manufacturing, a saw mill, cabinet making, hat manufacturing, and even sleigh-makers, all dating back to the late 1700s. There are 26 buildings. The museum/performance venue opened in 1999.
