Troyes
Rashi (1040-1105), the most prolific exegete of medieval Jewry, was born in Worms but lived 56 years in Troyes. While some of the churches have crypts dating to the 11th century, none of the other buildings are quite that old. However, many are from the 1400s and most in the oldest section of town are on foundations that surely stood at the edge of the streets Rashi walked.
