Cathedral Lake Trailhead is off Castle Mountain Creek Valley, a 15 mile ride from Aspen. The road ends at the Castle Mountain wilderness; this trailhead is about a mile from the road's end. The initial climb is very steep. You gain about 2,000 feet in altitude in about 2.5 miles. The lake is about 3.2 miles from the trailhead.
